ABOUT US

Who we are
The person behind Want A Loan, and why contractor and self-employed lending became the focus.

Lenders on panel

20+ years in financial services. One clear focus.

Noah spent over two decades working across financial services, including as a financial planner in both Australia and the United States, and in numerous contract roles within banks and financial services companies in training and change management capacities.

Working as a contractor in financial services means navigating the home loan process from exactly the position many of his clients are in now. Noah has personal experience of what lenders look for (and what they push back on) when your income comes from contracts rather than a permanent role.

It also means he's seen the other side of this problem first-hand: people who decided to move out of contracting and into permanent roles they weren't excited about, because they believed they needed that employment stability to get a home loan. In most cases, they didn't. Getting that advice earlier would have changed the decision.

That's the gap Want A Loan is built around - making sure contractors and self-employed professionals understand what's actually possible before they make decisions based on assumptions about what lenders will and won't accept.

WHY WE SPECIALISE

Why contractors and the self-employed?

Most brokers treat contractor and self-employed income as a variation of the standard PAYG assessment. The application goes in, the lender pushes back, and the borrower ends up with less than they could have borrowed, or pays more than they needed to.

The reality is that PAYG contractors, ABN contractors, and self-employed professionals are assessed differently by different lenders, and knowing which lenders favour which income type, and how to present income correctly, is a genuine specialist skill. It's also where the gap between a good outcome and an unnecessarily poor one is widest.

That's the gap we focus on. Permanent PAYG clients are equally welcome, and for straightforward income situations, we move quickly and efficiently. But the specialist depth is where we add the most value.

WHY USE A BROKER

Why work with a mortgage broker?

A few things worth knowing before you decide how to approach your next loan.

No cost to you, in most cases

We're paid by the lender when your loan settles, not by you. For most residential lending, our service costs you nothing directly.

Access to 30+ lenders

Going directly to one bank means one set of products and one assessment methodology. We search across bank, non-bank, and specialist lenders to find the right fit for your situation.

One contact, full process

We manage the application, liaise with the lender, and keep you updated from initial assessment through to settlement, and beyond if your circumstances change.
